It is pretty vulnerable and prone to damage compared to an electronic copy which is not. It is much safer to carry the eAadhar around, considering the fact that physical things have a tendency to get degraded.
In order to UID download Aadhar online, follow these few steps carefully:
- Visit the official website specified: https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/

- The Password for PDF – Know Your eAadhaar password here.
As you can see with the points mentioned above, firstly, visit the official website specified in order to UIDAI Download. The website URL is given in the first point itself. The website would look like this:
As you can see, you need to enter a lot of details. Firstly, you need to select from the three options given to search for the UIDAI card. The options are as follows:
- Enrolment ID
Aadhaar, as we all know, is the 12-digit number assigned to the individual who has registered themselves with the Unique Identification Authority of India. People who want to download the UIDAI card online can do the same by selecting this option.
Secondly, VID or Virtual ID is a 16-digit number assigned to each person having a UIDAI card. The speciality of this ID is that you can use it to download your UIDAI card.
And finally, Enrolment ID is a 28-character string with which you can download your UIDAI card. The total number of characters are separated accordingly:
- 14 digits suggesting the enrollment id in the form of xxxx/xxxxx/xxxxx
- 14 digits suggesting the Date and Time of Enrollment: DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS
Once you have selected how you want to proceed, you need to fill up the other information. The details are as follows in a tabular form:
|1.||Enrolment ID / Aadhaar Number / Virtual ID|
|5.||OTP or TOTP|
It is seen that, in the table, there are two types of authentication measures that you need to follow with the help of your Registered Mobile Number. Those are:
- OTP or One Time Password
- TOTP or Time-based One Time Password
OTP or One Time Password is a 6-digit code that is sent to your registered mobile number that you need to enter accordingly in the space provided. The requirement of mobile network coverage is necessary so that you actually receive the text message and use the code.
The One Time Password is valid for a maximum of 30 minutes. You need to finish the process by entering the code within the stipulated time period.
Secondly, TOTP or Time-based One Time Password is an 8-digit code that is displayed on the mAadhaar mobile app. You need to login to the mAadhaar mobile app to see what exactly the code. For this, you just need to have an internet connection, not even mobile network coverage.
The TOTP or Time-based One Time Password is valid for only 30 seconds. So, you need to act as fast as possible and finish the procedure.
UID Download Preference
As the heading says, in this section, we will talk upon the preferences that you have while downloading the UIDAI Card.
Thus, even while downloading the card, you will have two specific options to choose from. Those are as follows:
A regular eAadhaar card is basically a normal Aadhaar card where your details will be on full display. None of the important information will be hidden and each and every point is basically visible on the file itself. It will carry the 12-digit UIDAI number on it.
A masked eAadhaar card is almost a normal Aadhaar card, except there is a small difference. Instead of the 12-digit UIDAI number on it, you will have your VID or the Virtual ID. It is a 16-digit number which is revocable and is easy to use.
Instead of the obvious Aadhaar card number, VID saves your privacy by showing only the important details associated with your UIDAI account.
