Aadhaar card consists of a 12-digit Unique Identification Number which will be issued to every citizen of India by the Central Government itself. These days, Aadhar card is significant than many other Legal Documents for an Indian Citizen. Aadhaar card has many uses than many other Photo Identity cards, Government Issued Certificates etc.
- Any resident of India is eligible for getting an Aadhar card.
- NRIs or Foreigners who are staying in India for more than 12 months are also eligible.
In this article, you can know about the Documents that are required for the Name Correction in your Aadhar card. The following table consists of the Documents which are accepted by the UIDAI officials for the verification procedure. As these documents are for Name Correction, any Proof of Identity (PoI) document can be accepted.

Applying for a new Aadhaar card has become easy with the online Self-Service Portal (SSUP) introduced by the UIDAI in their official website. In that portal, you can download your Aadhar or can also modify the details in your Aadhaar.
Note: Some of the Documents mentioned in the above table such as Electricity Bill, Telephone Bill, Water Bill, Gas Connection Bill etc should not be older than 3 months.
The above-mentioned Documents are accepted as the Proof of Identity Documents by the UIDAI officials when you need to modify your Name in the Aadhar Card. The common thing in all of these cards is that each and every card contains your Name and Photograph on them. Photo Identity cards are more preferable than the Identity Cards.
